DROWNING POOL Bus Company Owner Changes Story About EBay 'Hoax'
August 29, 2002The owner of the tour bus company, Ziggy Coaches, that leased the tour bus used by DROWNING POOL while they toured on Ozzfest — the very same one in which DP frontman Dave Williams was found dead on August 14th — appears to be changing his story about how the bus ended up on auction site eBay within hours of Williams' death.
Despite previously claiming that the whole thing was a hoax, orchestrated either by the competition, a disgruntled driver, or some other troublemaker, company owner Dale "Ziggy" Seigfried has admitted to Rolling Stone magazine that the initial idea to sell the bus actually came from him.
"I said, 'This bus is cursed, we're going to put it up for sale,' said Seigfreid, apparently implying that he was not serious when he made the statement. "And [a Ziggy's sales agent] put it up for sale. He was dealt with."
DROWNING POOL's surviving members were outraged. "That's our home," said guitarist C.J. Pierce. "Dave laid down on his bunk, and he went to sleep and didn't wake up."
In other news, DROWNING POOL drummer, Mike Luce, told Rolling Stone that on the evening of August 13th — the night before Williams' death — the Texas-based group were driving from Indianapolis to Manassas, Virginia with the Ozzfest tour and were thinking up ways to make the last show, in Dallas on September 8th, special. "We were talking about jamming on old SABBATH tune with a lot of our friends and heroes — Dimebag from PANTERA, ROB ZOMBIE, Nick and Zakk from BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, " said Luce. "It would have been pandemonium."
